News Date : 17 Mar 2026     News Report

VI Semester students of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT), visited the Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications (IRISET), Secunderabad, on 17 March 2026.

The visit was organized to provide students with practical exposure to modern railway signalling and telecommunications systems. During the visit, students explored key facilities including the Train Detection Lab, Automatic Block Signalling systems, Outdoor Lab, and Electrical Lab.

Through guided demonstrations and expert interactions, students gained a clear understanding of how these systems function in real-time to ensure safe and efficient train operations. The visit enabled them to connect theoretical concepts learned in the classroom with their practical implementation in the field.

In addition to technical learning, the session also highlighted career opportunities within Indian Railways, particularly in the domains of signalling, safety systems, and infrastructure management.

The industrial visit proved to be a valuable learning experience, enhancing students’ knowledge and providing insight into real-world engineering applications.
